The World Federation of Trade Unions conveys its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the three sewage workers and of the citizen who lost their life two days ago, in Shibin El-Qanater, in the north of Cairo.

The workers, employed by a private contractor, suffocated by the toxic gases when they opened the sewer and fell into it.

Representing more than 92 million workers in 126 countries all over the world, the WFTU always highlighs the necessity of proper  health and safety measures at the workplaces.The world militant trade union movement will continue and  strengthen its struggles for dignified  working conditions with respect for the life and safety of workers.
