2019 August 15 is the 73rd Independence of the country.

We, the communist, stood in the forefront of the freedom struggle and made supreme sacrifices to win the independence.

Today the right wing fascist forces – the RSS and its affiliates, having captured the political power, are trying to appropriate every part of history and to rewrite history. They use everything to hack the minds of the people imposing the false narrative of jingoist nationalism.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condoles the death of people due to floods in various parts of the country and expresses deep sympathy for all those who are affected due to floods and subsequent natural calamities. It appeals to central government to immediately send adequate help to all the states to give food, relief material and financial help to those affected along with medical help to face subsequent problems of infections and epidemics.

The Left parties call upon the people of India to strongly protest against these illegal and unconstitutional methods employed by the Modi Government. "These are not issues confined to Jammu & Kashmir alone," they add, "They constitute an attack on democracy, federalism and the constitutional order."

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India strongly condemned the detention of Com. D. Raja, General Secretary of CPI and Com Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of CPI (M), at Srinagar Airport today; by the security forces. They were on their way to meet Com. Tarigami, MLA of Jammu & Kashmir Assembly, as he is not well. Both the Communist leaders have written a letter earlier to the Governor; Jammu & Kashmir that they would like to meet the party leaders and activists at Kashmir valley. This detention is undemocratic and despicable.

CPI General Secretary, D. Raja, has addressed the following letter to Jammu and Kashmir, Governor, Satya Pal Malik regarding his proposed visit to Srinagar on August 9.

New Delhi
August 08, 2019

Shri Satya Pal Malik
Governor
Jammu and Kashmir.

Dear Malik ji,

As the General Secretary of Communist Party of India, I wish to visit Srinagar to meet my Party members and my Party leaders. I propose to reach Srinagar on the 9th August, 2019 morning to meet them.

CPIM IndiaThe Modi government has struck a big blow at democracy and the Constitution by scrapping Article 370 of the Constitution and dismantling the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

The people of Kashmir had acceded to India in the face of invaders from Pakistan and a solemn commitment had been made to them by the Indian State to provide them with special status and autonomy which was embodied in Article 370. The Modi government has betrayed the people of Jammu & Kashmir by going back on this commitment.

comunistaLeft Parties Statement on Dismantling the State of Jammu & Kashmir Assault on India’s Constitution, Democracy & Federalism

The Modi government has dealt a severe blow to our constitutional order by unilaterally scrapping Article 370 and other provisions of the Constitution and dividing the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

The special provisions guaranteed by the Indian Constitution to the state of Jammu & Kashmir were the result of the princely state signing the instrument of accession to the Indian Union in the face of Pakistani invaders. By the current measures, the Modi government has completely negated the assurance made by the Indian government to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. This is an assault on federalism, a fundamental feature of the Indian Constitution.

Comrade D. Raja, general secretary, CPI made his first priority to visit Sonbhadra in U.P. after taking over as General secretary of CPI. It was Sonbhadra where tribals were massacred by local landlords with the connivance of Yogi government. Since Yogi took over, fake encounters, communal riots, lynchings, hate speech and rousing communal passions have become the order of the day.

Comrade Raja lambasted the anarchy in the state of Uttar Pradesh and jungle Raj of Yogi.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India strongly condemns the anti-democratic move of the RSS controlled BJP government to change the status quo of Jammu and Kashmir without taking people into confidence. To dismantle the state of Jammu and Kashmir into different Union Territories without proper discussion in Parliament when the parliament is in session is undermining the parliamentary practices, procedures and the precedence.

D. Raja, General Secretary, Communist Party of India issued the following statement:

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has decided to organise protests against the increasing atrocities particularly on Dalits, Tribals, Minorities and Women on 7th August to 9th August, 2019.

Despite the strong opposition from the Left and other parties, the BJP government is getting all draconian legislations passed in Parliament. The government does it using its number in Parliament and also political manipulations to exert pressure on some parties.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on July 5, 2019 on Union Budget 2019-20:

Modi government’s budget for 2019 - 20 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is a huge disappointment as it fails to address real issues of our economy and people. Slowdown in growth, rising unemployment, rising NPA of banks,
