A fire, broke out in ESIC Kamgar Hospital in the northern suburb of Andheri Mumbai on Monday, causes the dead of at least 8 people and the injury 147, according to the latest information.

The accident proves, with the most tragic manner, the lack of appropriate protection measures in the places of work, education, medical treatment and living of the ordinary people.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 95 million workers in 130 countries declares its sincere condolence with the relatives of the victims and supports the protest of the employees of ESIC Hospital who protest against the inadequate and improper facilities in the hospital.

The WFTU joins its voice with the Indian workers and continues its firm struggles for the satisfying of the timeless demand of the working class for adequate protection measures in all aspects of life.
