The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 97 million workers in 130 countries of the 5 continents expresses its solidarity with the mass pensioners’ demonstration which will take place tomorrow 17th December 2019 in India.

The International Class oriented trade union movement strongly condemns the austerity policy in India that affect the Indian working class and particularly the pensioners and retired.  We support the fair demands and struggle of the pensioners against the criminal lack or delay of the necessary payments of bills, medical allowance, and other benefits related to the medical care of the population, especially in the cases of aged workers who suffer from chronic or heavy diseases.

This unacceptable situation proves that the workers who create everything and have been paying for decades taxes they do not have even in the most fundamental medical care. The WFTU demands the immediate and unconditional implementation of the pensioners’ demands and calls upon the workers of India to supports with all their means the struggle for free, public, universal and adequate medical system.
