The election rally organized by the CPI(M) mobilized a million people in Kolkata.

On February 3, one million people gathered in Kolkata for "People's Brigade" rally to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government from West Bengal in the forthcoming elections. The election rally was organized by the Left Front, an alliance led by the Communist Party of India - Marxist.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India condemned the dissolution of the Medical Council of India by the nationalist RSS-controlled BJP government.

According to the statement of the Communist Party of India (CPI), the dissolution of the Medical Councli was done in such hurry that the government had to bypass Parliament. The Party noted that 'under Modi’s ordinance raj, regulatory bodies like the MCI which is responsible for ensuring high standards in medical education and good ethics in medical practice have become obstacles in government’s plan to fully commercialise and privatise education, including professional ones. Now instead of Democratic elections, it will be only nominated body.'

The WFTU International Trade Union Congress of Energy and Chemistry Industry Workers celebrates its opening today September11, 2018, in Trivandrum, India with the presence of WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos, the leadership of CITU, local leaders and many delegates from the sector.

More than 150 delegates from 30 countries of the 5 continents are participating to this congress which is of great importance for both for the workers in this sector and the working class all over the world; moreover, the workers of the sector globally are expecting the resolutions and the action plan of the Congress which will trace the new upward course of this Trade Union International.
