The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on February 23, 2019:

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India demands that the Home Ministry should withdraw the order that empowered the Assam rifles to arrest anybody without warrant and to search any place in Myanmar border districts of Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram. This is naturally objected by the Northeastern states, including BJP ruled states. This will be almost expanding the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, which is vehemently opposed by the people. Normalcy should be restored by withdrawing it, instead of keeping in abeyance.
