A remarkable parade was held on Saturday at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Labor Party.

Communist Party of KazakhstanThe Comunist Party of Greece (KKE) delegation in the European Parliament denounced the unacceptable decision of the authorities of Kazakhstan to ban the Communist Party of Kazakhstan on the pretext that it does not possess the necessary number of members, with a question to the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. This decision comes in addition to a series of similar temporary decisions to suspend the activity of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan and it is connected with persecutions, the curtailing of the right to strike, to demonstrate, to organize in trade unions.

Today is a day that will forever be etched in the memory of people all over the world. Seventy years ago today, the Chinese people, having fought tenaciously for 14 years, won the great victory of their War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, marking the full victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. On that day, the world was once again blessed by the sunshine of peace.

Sickle and hammerThe Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the violence which has engulfed various parts of Gujarat resulting in arson and deaths of nine people.  The manner in which the police and the administration handled the aftermath of the August 25 rally organized by the Pattidar organizations contributed to the eruption of violence. The CPI(M) calls for the immediate restoration of peace and normalcy.

The BJP and the Prime Minister have threatened to go to all the Left constituencies protesting against the Left parties role in the so-called »disruption« of the parliament, particularly the Rajya Sabha. Official statistics report that the Rajya Sabha worked for a barely nine per cent of the allotted time. The BJP displays selective amnesia by forgetting that the Rajya Sabha functioned for just two per cent of the time in the 2010 winter session. The BJP then led the disruption demanding action against those involved in corruption belonging to the then UPA government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh.

JAPANESE premier Shinzo Abe seems intent on marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII with empty gestures of regret, while at the same time stoking Japan’s future military ambitions. As the country marks the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which sealed Japan’s WWII fate, Abe and his allies are pushing through new laws that break the anti-war clauses in Japan’s post-war constitution by allowing Japanese troops to take part in overseas conflicts.

Communist Party of IndiaThe National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has issued the following statement today to the Media welcoming Supreme Court order on CBI probe into Vyapam scam:

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India expresses its satisfaction over the verdict of the Supreme Court transferring the Vyapam case of Madhya Pradesh to the apex court. The comment of the Supreme Court on the state governor is very severe.  An accused in a case of corruption coupled with crime and mysterious deaths cannot occupy a constitutional post. He should not also be allowed to enjoy any immunity.
