190217marxThe Young Communist League of Britain issued the following statement:

For the second time in two weeks we have seen Marx’s grave attacked and vandalised in London.

Whilst we are more concerned with the tangible impact of Marx’s work, we cannot sit idly by while anti-communists attack the graves of those that inspire us.

This attack is an indication of Marx’s resurgence in influence across Britain and across the globe- we are on the march again.

The YCL unequivocally condemns the act of those who seek to fight against us but are too weak to carry out these acts in person. In recent years we have seen fascists and anti-communists grow in confidence- we must unite across the Labour Movement to ensure that the confidence, which acts...

morning star neuKARL MARX’S tomb was vandalised in a suspected “hammer attack” over the weekend and “will never be the same again.”

Marks appeared on the marble plaque situated under the bronze bust of the communist philosopher’s tomb, in Highgate Cemetery in north London, with the Friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust charity condemning the “deliberate attack on the memory of Karl Marx.”

Britain should leave the EU on March 29, liberating a future Labour government from EU Single Market rules and trading with EU and other countries on WTO terms if necessary, Britain's Communists declared at the weekend.

At the first meeting of its new Executive Committee elected at the 55th Congress, the Communist Party said that the 'pro-EU Tory minority regime' and the EU Commission could not...

Communist Party General Secretary Robert Griffiths issued the following statement today (January 15) after MPs voted by 432 to 202 against the Tory government's Withdrawal Agreement negotiated with the EU:

Today's Commons debate and vote indicate that many MPs have no intention of allowing any kind of Brexit, not even the bogus Brexit on offer from the Tory Cabinet and the EU.

Prime Minister...

While Conservative MPs were voting for and against their party leader, Communist Party general secretary Robert Griffiths said, 'Now as never before, with all the confusing talk of a "soft" or "hard" or "no deal" Brexit, it is critical to focus on the issues that resulted in a majority to leave the EU, in the biggest democratic exercise in Britain's history.

'The majority of voters had had...

Jeremy Corbyn told some uncomfortable truths to Europe's social-democratic parties in Lisbon last Friday.

He urged the congress of the Party of European Socialists to 'work together to help build a real social Europe, a people's Europe, a Europe that will strengthen solidarity across borders, resist the race to the bottom in rights and protections and work together to extend them for all...

The secretaries of the Communist Party in Scotland and Wales have issued the followed joint statement today (December 5):

'Scottish and Welsh Communists have long supported the case for a federal Britain. We believe this is the only constitutional settlement that will empower the workers and peoples of our countries to control and develop their economies, while maintaining labour movement unity...

'Chancellor Hammond presented a bogus budget for a bogus Brexit and a bogus end to austerity', Robert Griffiths told the Communist Party's Political Committee on Wednesday evening (October 31).

'His budget sought to browbeat and bribe Eurosceptic Tory and pro-EU Labour MPs into supporting the Cabinet's proposed bogus Brexit deal - or else he would bring in an emergency austerity budget. At the...

It's a 'jam tomorrow' budget from Chancellor Philip Hammond and is unlikely to fool millions of people who are struggling to get by. They see and experience local services continuing to deteriorate, whether it's longer waiting times in the NHS, cancelled operations, the closure of facilities for the elderly and young people, school requests for parental donations, the extinguishing of street...

Communist Party international secretary John Foster warned of the growing threat to world peace, the international economy and the environment at the weekend.

Speaking to the party's executive committee, he cited US President Trump's increasingly aggressive attitude towards China and Russia, in keeping with what the US National Security Strategy calls a new era of 'great power...

'The real message from the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is that capitalism has caused the deadly global warming crisis and is incapable of solving it', John Foster told the Communist Party's political committee on Wednesday evening.

Pointing out that burning oil and gas accounts for 50 per cent of global carbon emissions, he said the big corporations showed no intention of...
