This Saturday the Venezuelan people moved with joy to celebrate the official departure of Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS), after denouncing the regional entity in 2017 for the attacks and aggressions that are promoted there against the sovereignty of the South American country.

CEPRA new paper from the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), by economists Mark Weisbrot and Jeffrey Sachs, finds that economic sanctions implemented by the Trump administration since August 2017 have caused tens of thousands of deaths and are rapidly worsening the humanitarian crisis.

“The sanctions are depriving Venezuelans of lifesaving medicines, medical equipment, food, and other essential imports,” said Mark Weisbrot, Co-Director of CEPR and co-author of the report. “This is illegal under US and international law, and treaties that the US has signed. Congress should move to stop it.”

Venezuela must celebrate its departure from the Organization of American States (OAS) as an act of independence and sovereignty, said the ambassador of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada.

In an exclusive interview for the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the ambassador said that in this way Venezuela responds to the decision taken by 18 member states of the Organization, led by the US government, to turn the international body into an instrument for political, military and economic intervention against Venezuela.

Before the obsessive and failed imperialist strategy led by the Trump administration, on Friday, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, strongly rejected the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza.

This detestable and illegal maneuver is applied to Venezuelan high officials since 2015 with the aim of defame and discredit the Bolivarian Government and its representatives before international organizations and other governments of the world and unsuccessfully try to silence the voice of a people who have decided to be free and sovereign.

The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation was indignated after the imposition of sanctions made by the United States government against the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, according to a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry published this Friday, April 26.

“We are outraged by the information that the United States imposed personal sanctions against the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza (…) once again a crude attempt is made to pressure the government of this country and the Venezuelan people”, said the Russian ministry.

Cordiality and respect for sovereignty, on this climate a meeting took place on Thursday between merchants, businessmen and Brazilian communities with Venezuelan political and diplomatic representatives in the town of Santa Elena de Uairén.

A few meters from the Venezuelan-Brazilian border line, the wills of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Federative Republic of Brazil were once again united in order to maintain a friendly, cooperative and peaceful relationship between both nations.

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, rejected the illegal sanctions announced this Friday by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department of the United States, against him.

This measure, contrary to international law and the Charter of the United Nations, makes clear the despair of the Trump administration against the Venezuelan government, said the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations through his Twitter account, @jaarreaza.

The unilateral and coercive sanctions initiated by the government of former US President Barack Obama and intensified by the current administration of Donald Trump, has generated devastating effects on the people of Venezuela to such an extent that it threatens the lives of thousands of citizens motivated by the economic blockade that makes it impossible to the Venezuelan State to acquire raw materials, food and medical supplies, denounced the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, during a press conference at the UN, New York.
