Faced with the escalation of the situation, following the aggressive statements of Trump and the concentration of new military forces in the region, PAME communicated on Thursday, April 12, 2018 with the GFTU Syria, where it expressed Solidarity of the class trade union movement of Greece to the people and workers of Syria.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) issued a statement on the impending military action by U.S. led imperialism against Syria.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) issued a statement on the impending military action by U.S. led imperialism against Syria. The statement said:
"The stage is being set for the Trump administration and the Pentagon to launch a new military action against Syria, as evidenced by the open threats against Assad’s government after the unsubstantiated accusation of a chemical attack."

Three French CP’s, Communist Revolutionary Party of France (PCRF), Revolutionary Party-Communists (PRC) and Pole of the Communist Rebirth in France (PRCF), made declarations on the warmongering of the French government in Syria following the attacks in Eastern Ghouta and condemned the stance of the imperialist countries on this country.

wfdy 148The escalation of security and military tensions in the world seems to continue. In particular in the Middle East and especially in Syria which is facing the brutality of imperialism since 2011, which claims the lives of thousands of martyrs and wounded along with massive destruction of infrastructure and historical monuments of the human civilization as a whole. Further, hundreds and thousands of civilians, of women and children lost their lives by being targeted by the war powers.

It has been pointed out that certain Russian citizens in Syria have arrived there of their own free will and for different reasons. The Foreign Ministry does not have the authority to assess the validity and legality of their decisions.

At the same time, we have the following to say, considering that the issue concerns Russian citizens outside Russia.

On February 13, Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov received Secretary-General of the Syrian National Youth Party for Justice and Development Berwin Ibrahim.

They exchanged views on developments in Syria with emphasis on the need for an urgent political settlement of the crisis and the final eradication of terrorism in Syria.

According to incoming information, Israeli aircraft delivered several missile strikes at targets in Syria, including those at the border of the southwestern de-escalation zone, in the night and morning of February 10. Syrian losses and material damage are being specified. Reports say one Israeli military aircraft was shot down in the area of the Golan Heights.

SANADamascus, SANA-The army air defense confronted a new Israeli aggression on one of the military positions in the central area and hit more than one aircraft.

A military source told SANA that the Israeli enemy on Saturday dawn launched a new aggression against one of the military bases in the central area, and the army air defense confronted the aggression and hit more than one aircraft.

The humanitarian situation in Syria remains difficult. Given these circumstances, Russia continues to deploy multidimensional efforts to provide aid to the civilian population, both by directly bringing in humanitarian supplies, and facilitating the work of international humanitarian bodies.

In this context, we paid attention to a statement issued by the UN agencies in Syria released on February 6 regarding the humanitarian situation in a number of areas, including Afrin, Hasakah, Raqqa, Idlib, Rukban camp, and Eastern Ghouta, with a call for a month-long break in hostilities in order to deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate wounded and sick people.

tkpSpecial interview by soL with Kemal Okuyan the GS of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) on Turkish Government's Afrin operation

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), Kemal Okuyan, answered the questions of soL news regarding Afrin operation.

soL: Do you think that Afrin operation can resolve the political situation in Syria? In other words, can it bring about a process that could terminate for good the ongoing Syrian war which already seems to have lost pace compared to the previous years?

Kemal Okuyan: Syria was the last stop of the wave of Arab Spring. [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan’s Neo-Ottoman Project and Arab Spring constituted a whole, and together they ran into a stone wall in Syria. The resistance of the people of Syria should not be underestimated. Russia played a role in the equation only after Syria proved its resilience. Thus the crisis in Syria transitioned on to a new phase. Today Syria has become an arena of rivalry for the hegemonic forces. It seems that neither the US nor Russia is able to impose its strategy on the other. Until very recently, the US was the play-maker while Russia kept reacting to the offensive moves of the US. Russia felt the need to develop its own strategy at a certain point, and now it’s the US’s turn to react. The disruptive activities of the US and Russia in Syria create some vacuum, and that’s why AKP [Turkey's ruling party] had the chance to revise and act on its plans in Syria. Getting back to the question, I believe that Afrin operation cannot solve the political situation in Syria. It can only make it more complicated.
